Lopez Obrador woos Mexican voters

Former DF Mayor and Democratic Revolution Party member Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is the leading contender in Mexico's upcoming presidential elections, and is seeking votes through small scale events and speeches, due to his lack of money for mass advertising and his pledge not to accept cash from special interests. It will be interesting to see if PAN will have a similar political alliance to the one that helped Fox win the last election. Also, PRD and the Mexican political left will have to do a much better job than the previous election where Cuahtemoc Cardenas obtained a woeful and embarassing third place.

Lopez Obrador of the PRD is the frontrunner right now. He'll perform much better than Cuahtemoc Cardenas. He's much more charismatic, and he's a popular mayor in Mexico City.

Quite true, but it's still going to be a very interesting election with so many viable candidates running. Lopez Obrador may be the frontrunner now, but that can change very quickly, especially with the way the Mexican media is slanted. [i.e. Televisa = PRI]
