- Cuba: Fidel Castro returned to Cuban television for a long interview in which he appeared in normal health and said that war between the US and Iran was inevitable.
- Nicaragua: Former president Arnaldo Alemán, convicted of corruption but then pardoned by rival Daniel Ortega, will again run for president of Nicaragua in 2011. The announcement comes just days after a Panamanian court announced that it would drop money laundering charges against Alemán.
