Bronx residents happy to receive Veneuelan oil
Residents of the South Bronx began receiving shipments of heating oil today, a move by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez that the Washington Post said 'may be nothing more than a chance to tweak the nose of the Bush administration.' (WAPO)
My brother is visiting me this Christmas and gets here next week and was denied access to cash dollars In Vzla. and will only be able to use an ATM that they gave him as a dollar access card.
With that card he will be able to withdraw $300 for the whole month he will be visiting me this christmas.
He can also make purchases with the card up to $500 for the whole month trip.

Let's be serious here. If it wasnt b/c he has a place to stay $800 would not get your very far.
He is in his 20s and not part of any elite.
If he worked for the gov't he would surely have access to the dollars so he wouldnt have such a hard time while visiting his family.

This guy might be giving cheap oil to look like the social savior but he doesnt care about his own people.
"fpohl's" brother got just a teeny, tiny example of the "inconveniences" of a centrally run government. If he wants the full treatment, he should go back for a month's stay, should Don Hugo manage to capture Venezuela (personally, I'm not betting on this happening).
I said it before and I'll say it again: Sargento Chavez should go back to what he was trained for, and undoubtedly excelled at: Army parachutist.
Anyone is fears this clueless clown better stop drinking their Kool-Aid. I say,if the people of Vzla. are really intent on trying on some form of socialism for size, then they should insist on someone other than a clownish ex-Army Sergeant to lead them and . . . and before accepting the painful deprivation that socialism will visit upon them, let them first try a week of waiting in long lines at their grocery stores only to find moldy tortillas to buy (or no tortillas at all).
As in marriage, it's said contentment with governance is best achieved via el estómago.
A leader helping the people is great, but he could help the people best by letting small businesses take root instead of making citizens dependent on the government for handouts.

It sucks that windfall oil profits fall into the lap of someone like him.
I agree. A government leader helping poor people? This is outrageous and must be halted immediately.
