Important visits: Rice will be in Chile, Preval to visit South America, Lula in U.K.

The U.S. State Department announced last week that Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice will visit Chile for Michele Bachelet’s inauguration this Saturday, while Haitian president-elect Rene Preval plans to travel to Brazil, Chile, and Argentina later this month. Brazilian president Luiz Ignacio Lula da Silva started today a three-day visit to the United Kingdom where he plans to convince PM Tony Blair to push the EU and WTO to relax trade barriers.
