Nicaragua restores ties to North Korea

After seventeen years of having ties broken off, Nicaragua’s government has reestablished diplomatic ties with North Korea. Though President Daniel Ortega claims he wants to maintain amicable ties to the U.S., he admitted that problems may arise with Washington due to tension over North Korea's nuclear program.

North Korea isn’t the only country being courted by Nicaragua; foreign envoys for Russia where in Managua last week for “political consultations” between both nations.
