Ex-president of Paraguay Luis Gonzalez Macchi (image) was sentenced to 6 years in jail on Monday for running an embezzlement scheme to pocket $16 million on the sale of two government banks. Gonzalez Macchi was Paraguayan president from 1999 to 2003 and faced a weakened economy and little support in the legislature.
