* U.S.: Could “undocumented immigrants” be named as Time magazine’s Person of the Year for 2012?

* Colombia: One of the FARC negotiators involved in peace talks between the guerillas and the Colombian government claimed that both sides are “on the same wavelength.”

* Argentina: The Argentine government is hoping that a U.S. appeals court will halt a ruling last week obligating them to pay $1.3 billion in debts to foreign creditors.

* Brazil: An estimated 200,000 people in Rio de Janeiro participated in protests urging President Dilma Rousseff to veto a bill that would modify oil royalties.

* Mexico: Immigration and the economy are expected to be two of the main issues to be discussed today at a meeting between U.S. President Barack Obama and Mexican President-elect Enrique Pena Nieto.
