Kudos to Costa Rica and president-elect Laura Chinchilla. Chinchilla pulled 47% of the vote Sunday to become the first female in Costa Rican history to be elected president.
Chinchilla fought off claims (and an amusing attack ad) that suggested she would be a puppet for outgoing president Oscar Arias.
Chinchilla will join Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner in the club of currently-serving female heads of state in the region, but Chincilla probably hopes her time in office more closely resembles that of outgoing Chilean president Michelle Bachelet instead of her Argentine counterpart.

From what I know, she's an Arias' follower and she belongs to his same party, so if his attempts in changing the Costa Rican constitution to be reelected, didnt work, he can now die a happy man in view his "policies" will be followed.
ReplyDeleteThat means NAFTA and all possible free market agreements with the first world will be made, prostituting Costa Rican workers in the hands of huge multinational corporations, deregulating working conditions ,shit pay, working 16 hours a day and sometimes 48 hours in a row, etc. This is the "freedom" they talk about, like Randroids and tea party sociopaths.
I read she is against the usage of the morning after pill and legalizing abortion, same sex marriage, and separating the Church from the state. A total nutwing lol
Poor Costa Rica... with these NAFTAs just small power groups get richer, it benefits only first world countries, and we, the little fish, get eaten up.
It's Laura Chinche, not Chinchilla!
Find a LAC president that this is FOR those things, Boehmaya.
