Hispanic kids obese


Hispanic youths have the highest rates of obesity, according to a report from the Johns Hopkins Children's Center.

The Center attributes the problem to a large number of fast-food commercials on Spanish-language television.

On Univision and Telemundo, food commercials averaged two to three commercials an hour, with one-third targeted to children.

Pediatricians recommend that young children watch less TV and parents talk to children about healthy lifestyles and exercise. Doctors also should be aware of Hispanic parents' lifestyles and health officials should try to limit food advertising targeting children.
