In the wake of the Brazil airplane tragedy, Reuters has compiled a list of Latin American air crashes
here.
Meanwhile, Brazil's Federal Public Prosecutor's Office wants to shut the airport down, believing the accident that killed more than 200 people was caused by poor runway conditions that went
unrenovated, and the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers' Associations said Brazil is in a "deep crisis," questioning whether the government can competently
secure the airways.
A top aviation said the crash was not caused by the
runway.
