President-elect of Peru, Alan Garcia, (image) vowed that the Andean Community trading bloc will survive despite Venezuela’s defection to Mercosur. Still, he has denied masterminding a “strategic alliance” with Brazil and Chile against Venezuela. Speaking of a “strategic alliance,” the government of Venezuela and Argentina agreed to a “strategic alliance” that would strengthen political and economic ties between the two countries. This would include a joint “south bond” to help gain more investment.
